Brainstorm Generator Review

$147, from Kelvin Hui and Peter Drew

Brainstorm Generator is a desktop application that discovers, researches and analyzes keywords for the purpose of finding optimal AdSense niches. It is a way of mining real-time information, based on today’s hot keywords.

The discovery process can be done three different ways. First, BG can search Froogle’s recently used searches. Since Froogle is a shopping search service, all the keywords found here are commercial in nature, they represent items consumers are lookiing to buy. Brainstorm Generator grabs the recently searched terms, performs its analysis, then reaches for a new batch if the total number of results has not yet been found.

The second way of locating keywords is to enter a website to search. There are two good uses of this. First, if you are in a particular market, you can find the leading sites in that market, and have BG dig the keywords and analyze them. The other method is to mine your keywords in Froogle, then have Brainstorm Generator search the Wikipedia page for some of those terms. This brings an amazingly diverse mix of keyword phrases. For example, the term “pet door” came up in a Froogle analysis, so I set BG to search this page:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pet_Door

The results were about 75 keyword phrases, including these:

access my pc
art gardens
learn how to speak english
english bulldog puppies
biotechnology journals
contact lenses acuvue 2
unblock websites
cooper vision contact
linen sources
unblock websense
english crests
better homes and gardens magazines
rodent ulcers
doggy day cares
neighborhoods portland
garden sheds
phones unlocked
house floorplans
bullying articles
naked neighbor
old versions software
unlocking phones

Note: The default analysis settings were used for this search: 5-300 AdSense ads, results/search <150, KEI > 200, and results < 1522046

The great advantage of using the Wiki pages for these searches is that you are getting the today's best keywords, using a search that probably nobody else is using.

The third source of keywords is a locally stored text file. If you have an existing keyword list you want analyzed, this is the feature you would use.

The analysis function of Brainstorm Generator grabs or calculates six attributes of each keyword phrase. They are number of searches, number of results, R/S, number of AdWords ads, bid price, and keyword effectivenes index (KEI).  It allows you to filter based on any combination of these attributes. I find the default settings to be set about the way I would want them to be. Obviously the higher the standards you set, the longer it will take to find the number of keywords you are requesting.

Brainstorm Generator will dig and analyze until it reaches the specified number of results, if you choose Froogle for the source. If you are using a website or file for the source, it will analyze all the available keywords. I find that it usually takes anywhere from 2-6 hours to perform a search and analysis. There is a speed governor, I believe put in to avoid getting banned by Overture. I find setting up a couple searches per day will return a few hundred great keywords each day.

One of the biggest strengths of BG certainly has to be the fact that is is pulling real-time information. So many of the keyword tools and databases use historic information, that is often made obsolete quickly by overuse. Another strength is that BG is pulling commercially successful keywords for you, without the need for you to think of the ideas.

I see a couple great uses of this tool. I’m building niche blogs using these keywords and some of the latest blog-building tools, such as Viral Instigator, The Blog Solution, or a combination of WordPress and SEO BLog Builder or RSS To Blog.

Another use is to build small websites based on articles you write in these niches. Pick your favorite topic, scan a couple leading sites in this topic, and build a small article site using a few or more of the best keywords, with your home page being a general article on that topic.

Also included with Brainstorm Generator are a couple e-books detailing suggestions on maximizing your profits using Brainstorm Generator. These are guides on getting the most from the tool, and how-to’s for creating profitable niche websites. The guides are well-written, and less full of the fluff that is so typical of e-books today.

Brainstorm Generator is my current tool of choice for identifying profitable niche keywords!
