It is very easy to add an eBay RSS feed to your Wordpress blog, or to any site for that matter. eBay gives you the tool to build the feed. You can customize it, and use whatever search terms you want.

There are really two reasons for putting an eBay feed on your site. First of all, you can get affiliate sales for doing it. You need to first be an eBay affiliate, which requires you to sign up through Commission Junction. You can build entire eBay stores this way, althought there is an easier tool available to build an eBay store, called Build A Niche Website.

The other reason to put these feeds on your site is that they will provide changing content, that is somewhat keyword focused. Here is a small feed with the keyword “website”.

It took me about two minutes to build that feed! I’m sure if you were better at css than I am, you could get it to position how you wanted it. You can put these feeds in a Wordpress post, like you see, or in a sidebar, or really anywhere on a website.

Here’s how to do it:

1) Go to the eBay affiliate editor kit

2) Use the simple options to configure the size and style you want. Be careful that you don’t choose a wider style than your space permits. My sample above uses a 340 width. I chose a custom size because I wanted more than a few items to display.

3) Enter your Commission Junction affiliate ID so you can track clicks.

4) Click the continue button, and your code will be displayed.

5) Paste the eBay provided code in your Wordpress post (using the html editor) or put the code in your site template.

Done, instant content! Note that since this is javascript, the search engines will not see the text of the ad’s that are displayed.

Now if you want the easy way to make an eBay store, you want to use the Build A Niche Site software. Here is a sample BANS page. BANS also displays the feeds in a way that the search engines will pick up the text as site content.

I haven’t used this program in a few months, but will have to check it again. It does build your WP blogs very quickly as I recall. (Otherwise what’s the point, right?) The downside is that you are building through their site, you don’t actually own the software. Let me know what you think of it.
