PG Insider Review

PG Insider is a powerful site generation system that automates your install of NicheCreator or RSSGM. The day I bought it, I built 1,500 NicheCreator sites in a couple hours. Enough said? (Naw, after all, this is supposed to be a review!)

We are certainly living in the middle of a new wave of site-building automation, and PG Insider just brought us to a new level. This is a set of scripts that takes your keyword lists and NicheCreator or RSSGM templates, and creates a site with them, putting each new site in a subdirectory. I have used this with NicheCreator so far, and haven’t tried it with RSSGM, so my comments really only apply to NC. (It appears to work the same for both.)

Basically, here’s what you do:

- Create an installation directory on a server, including your templates and any other NC customizations you are using.

- Create a keywords directory, and load it with as many keyword lists as you want.

- Run the program, pointing it to a domain.

What it does is this:

- Looks at the name of one of your keyword files.

- Builds a subdirectory for it.

- Copies the NC install to it, along with the keywords file.

- Moves the keyword list into a “created” directory, to move it out of the way.

- Continues until there are no more keyword lists.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the instructions were only about 8 pages of normal text. The last program I bought came with 70 pages of smaller print! I was able to “almost” get the install working in a little under an hour start to finish. I had an issue with the keyword files at first, because I was using a slightly different way of managing my NC keyword files. Also, I needed to do some template modifications to make things a little easier. The instructions don’t discuss much about your NC install. If you have many tweaks and mods, like I do, you need to make sure you get everything in there correctly.

I would suggest that you start your build with a small group of keyword lists, maybe a half dozen, to get your process down. One great thing about this program, is you can always add to your sites. Just dump more keyword lists in the directory, and run the program again. If you want to change your template, just do it once. Then copy your keyword lists from the “created” directory back to the “keywords” directory, and run the program again. It will overwrite using your new template. Perfect!

I had one issue during the build, that I believe is a server problem. PG Insider would create a few hundred pages, then stop. I had to start it over a few times during the build process. Starting over is as simple as going back to the index page and pressing the “connect and install” button. I wasn’t timing it, but it probably took 30-45 minutes for the program to build 1,500 sites. I was on a reseller account for this test. In the next several days, I will test it on a vps and some shared accounts, and report the results here.

Using a program like this completely changes the time you spend on your business. Instead of building, your time will be spent indexing in mass, and managing keyword lists, domains, and hosting. It is very conceivable that the site-building pace can be 2-3,000 sites per hour.

Overall I’ve got to highly recommend PG Insider to anybody mass building sites. Whether you believe NC and RSSGM are good tools or not is irrelevant, considering the pace you are building.

Included in the PG Insider subscription price are about a million cleaned keywords per month, organized into a thousand-plus keyword lists. Trust me, you will need them! There is also a neat little tool to mass-handle keyword lists. This tool converts csv files to txt, “cleans” the keyword lists, and divides them if they are too big. So if your “diet” keyword list is at 100,000, cut it into 200 lists of 500 and build 500 sites pointing to a “super” diet site.

One of the nicest features of PG Insider are the sitemap building programs. Three of them are included. One creates a sitemap with one link to each site. This would be great to use on a blog homepage. Another builds a total sitemap of the entire site, perfect to grab the links for B & P. The third creates an xml sitemap, one link per site, to submit to feed directories.

If you have any hesitation at all about this, just subscribe for a month. It’s not even worth debating about the $97 expense! If I had to quit using this right now, it’s already well paid for itself in labor savings.

Happy site-building!

Note: The above review was written before several enhancements were made to PGI. As of December 2007, here are some additional features included with PGI. First of all, there is a complete video training series. Adam has recently hired someone to help him with this, and the guy is a genius. He teaches all about portal building and how to make money doing it. Another feature they have just released with Magic Builder 3.0 is a Joomla builder. If you like to build Joomla websites, now is your chance! They also seem to be running an introductory $1 offer for the first seven days. I don’t know if this is permanenet or not. Since they are normally full, you may need to put your name on their waiting list. Once you get in, $1 (or $97 if the special offer is done) will get you a whole slew of information. It will take you a week or two to get through all of the training materials, and if you don’t think the builders will work for you, even if you quit you got a huge amount of trainig for little cost. Good luck with it!
